Thelma the best foster

Post  beverleyandsage on Wed Oct 29, 2008 3:10 pm

We have an old hound dog that we have been fostering that has turned out to be the best foster that we could ever have. She is house broken, crate trained, kid friendly and good with other dogs and cats. I would keep her if I didn't already have more than enough of my own personal animals. When I say kid friendly I mean way kid friendly, I babysit a toddler (18months old) who climbs all over her and messes around with her, when I shoo him away she follows him. She has to be right by his side at all times. She has two major issues going against her she is a blue tick hound which is not a breed most want and she is at least 5 yrs old.
Here is a picture of her and Zach the little boy I babysit.

Its going to break my heart to see her go. I really actually haven't been trying to hard to find an adoptive home for her because I love her so much. But I have come to terms that she has to be adopted out. THe lady who runs our rescue has been trying hard but can't find one for her either.

Well it looks like Thelma may have found her forever home. They have started their application, they have children one is a toddler which Thelma will love. When she gave them the number to call me, I had to tell them how wonderful she is I almost started crying when she said that she was definatly going to start her application. I know I can't keep them all but this one stole my heart, but she will be happy being the only puppy with lots of kids who want to spend time with only her. Its a mix of emotions its going to be sad to see her go, but at the same time it will be happy to see her go to her home.

I know how you feel Bev. I was the same blubbering mess when Beacon was adopted. He is and will always be my heart dog, but I couldn't be happier for him or his new family. They truly do love him and he is in the very best home.

I'm so happy that Thelma has found her forever home. Very Happy Good luck to her and may her future be nothing but bright! flower
